European Investment Fund (EIF) recently made a EUR 25MM investment in Fabric Ventures, a $130MM fund focused on investments in the blockchain and digital asset space to “…back the founders of the Open Economy across the globe.” Fabric Ventures’ current portfolio includes both equity and digital assets across a variety of segments including a crytpocurrency exchange, decentralized finance (DeFI) ecosystem, and a metaverse. Separately, in the second quarter of 2021, EIF’s parent, the European Investment Bank (EIB), launched a EUR 100MM digital bond using the public Ethereum protocol and also experimented with a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) during the settlement process.
